Ge 2:18 And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him."
God gave Adam work to do (see verse 15). Now, in doing that work, in doing God's will, he needs a helper, a companion and a partner. In doing God's will, working at it with a partner and a companion is expedient.
Man, be committed to the work that God has given you to do. Choose a lifetime partner that will help you and not hinder you in doing it.
Woman, choose a man who is committed to God's work and prepare yourself to collaborate and assist him in doing it.
Singles, find a Timothy in doing God's work.

Your Word In My Heart #2
Ge 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
We have before us the foundation of the second commandment of the Ten Commandments: "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them."
Can you imagine the image of God bowing down before animals and beasts? Can you imagine God's appointed king bowing before "birds and four-footed animals and creeping things?"
Idolatry is an insult to God and a degradation of man's dignity. Idolatry is the turning of God's appointed order upside down. Instead of man having dominion over beasts, man is seen bending and bowing before them.
Moses had to educate Israel here about man's dignity and privilege for the Israelites were heavily influenced by idolatrous pagans around them.

Your Word In My Heart #1
Ge 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The very first verse of the Bible is very monotheistic indeed. It is the foundation of the first commandment of the Ten Commandments.
Why is it that God alone should be worshiped? Why is it that we should have no other gods before Him? It is because He alone is the Creator of all.
The universe, everything and everyone therein has a divine patent. Idolatry is a delusion and a denial of this one great fact---an infringement of the patent, a misattribution of the source.
Meditate: Is God the God of your universe?
